Sure, but I think there is a very good chance Gus told him to go so he didn't have to fire him.
Do you have any thing to back that up?
it is also possible the the "higher ups" at Auburn told Gus to make a change. It may not have been Gus's decision. Which is more of what I believe. Gus and Rhett are tight.
Then there is the chance that Rhett could have been disgusted with the way Gus has been doing things and made a move to better his overall career
All have the same merit. None

If you're equating moving from an OC jo to another OC job with moving from an OC job to a HC job, there literally is no helping you.

How does being a HC at FAU benefit LC more than being the OC at Bama?

Isn't Rhett the reason Gus has been able to look moderately competent?
This.
Look, everyone understands the narrative that Gus told Lashlee to move on. Yes, it happens all the time.
However, it rarely happens when the guy being pushed out had taken over an offense that was an utter shitshow with the HC calling plays and actually made it look pretty decent.

For a guy who WANTS TO BE A HC? A guy that apparently every AD in the country questions whether or not he is ready again to be a HC? You're serious? This has to be explained to you?
Like I said, there is literally no helping some of you guys.

Semantics. So I assume Kiffin would still be the OC at Alabama today had he not taken one of the worst jobs in college football?

Of course not, that is why I agreed with your general thought.

Sure that is totally possible as well, my point was no so much as to who made the decision but that he was going to be fired if he didn't take another job. You could apply that situation to the previous coaches as well.

Not likely because as you just said yourself "Gus and Rhett are tight."
There is nothing wrong with drawing conclusions if you admit that you have no hard evidence or proof.

Who knows? He was applying for every HC job out there, because he wants to be a HC.

One thing I haven't seen brought up is the added job security this move provides. Randy Edsall was just hired at UConn so he and his staff likely have at minimum three years to sort it out.
If you believe Gus's seat is getting warm then you could see why a guaranteed three years somewhere else would be appealing.
eta: I feel the same could be said about Mike DeBord. The idea that he was being pushed out combined with added job security of moving to a lower profile school with a new coaching staff.

So OC's at Bama dont take better head coaching jobs with pay raises?
Again, what is his actual benefit?

Kind of like the premise of this thread...

We did the same for Spavital... Looks better to move on for a new role vs getting fired. Gus did him a solid.
