My hopes are that Jalen progresses, keeps the job and somehow we redshirt Tua. Get a 2 year gap between them and and continue to run this conference.
Tua would have to be off the charts or Jalen would have to suck balls to lose the job IMO.

Did you watch the playoffs?

The playoffs he helped lead us to? Yes, yes I did.
He was a true freshman playing on the biggest stage. There's no guarantee Tua won't come in and have the same issues.

i watched him waltz into the endzone to put his team ahead with 2 minutes left in regulation.

I would rather not start a true freshman again personally.

Hurts was never mentioned
Well then I assume you're saying Tua will start at WR or RB? Maybe take Cam's vacant slot at LT?
I ask because you said he would be hard to keep out of the starting lineup, and the only way that could happen would be if he unseated Jalen Hurts.

Hurts with sark mentoring him will show vast improvement in his throw ability. It's all mental with hurts, he has the arm just needs to see the field. The last drive hurts made was unbelievable, hit AS13 in the hands while running for his life and then taking it in from 30 out. That drive showed me everything I'll ever need to see about hurts.
Any possibility he might work with a QB coach this summer?
I'm specifically thinking about the guy that worked with Blake Sims.....

Sims had such a pretty deep ball, still may be my favorite Bama QB of the Saban era

Do people think a stonefaced, ice in the veins, true freshman Qbs are just a regular thing? Maybe we have back-to-back ones, but how many true freshman QBs have even won a conference title, much less go undefeated in the regular season? I realize the defense helped the offense in a lot of games, but you don't see a young QB go into Baton Rouge and hostile environments like Hurts did and lead the team with such poise.
Our fans are so crazy in love with the backup QB it has to be a qualification to become a fan. It is not just people on here either, I've had four different people come up to me and actually sound excited we are going to have a new QB next year. I wonder if they would be like that if we had intercepted Watson or held them that last drive. Hurts would be the man who brought us back then I bet.

Very doubtful. Maybe if Hurts gets injured. Otherwise I can't see him being replaced.

I have no desire to start a true freshman again. Jalen did as well as I could have possibly imagined, but that is one of the hardest positions in sports to do as a freshman.
Tua would be just as lost if not more.

Easily. He instantly became one of my favorite Bama players ever during the 2012 LSU game when he gestured to the crowd after the Yeldon score. It was just icing on the cake when he set records in 14. Blake would have won it all with the defense we had this year.

We had 5 or 6 drops in the national title game. That's hardly Jalen's fault

Yea - it was a terrible combination for sure.
Honestly, the more I think back through the game the more I can't believe we scored that many points. Our offense was a GD trainwreck.

Yep, but he never displayed it until his last year and there were a lot of stories about how much he worked with that QB coach in his last off season. I think Hurts could benefit from the same kind of focused attention.

Stewart and Dieter missed passes that they absolutely should have caught. What were the other 4? There were a few that could have been very good catches, but those were the only 2 I remember that were in the hands of the receivers without them having to make adjustments in the route.

We're going to start another true freshman who needs a year to figure things out? One who played much worse high school competition?
If he's anything like Mariota, wishful hoping, frick yes.

Marcus Mariota redshirted his true freshman season. His first year playing was as a redshirt freshman.
Huge difference.
