I sometimes wonder is Saban isn't more directly involved with offensive playcalls down there.

It seems too convenient that not one of the last 3 OCs would ever want to call a legitimate fade/jump ball more than once or twice a year. Our play calls seem too safe, almost as if there is a philosophy of settling for 3 is ok, no need to risk anything. I wish there would be more over the middle type of routes - teams seem to always hit Bama over the top in the middle of the field in the redzone, but Bama seems to rarely do it to their opponents.

Think Saban is involved too. We had issues in the red zone with McElwain.

Possible. Saban is conservative to the core and doesn't seem to trust the quarterback. Understandable this year.
