Cigarettes (and all tobacco) and alcohol....both of which have and continue to kill more people than all of the 'illicit" drugs known to man....

So you actually think the numbers of people using alcohol and tobacco equals the number of people using opioids?

God, and you think opioid usage is the exact same thing as alcohol and tobacco use...

No, I don't think the number of people using opioids remotely approaches the number of people who use alcohol and tobacco. Just a quick glance at the "National Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse" there are an estimated 17 million alcoholics in the US and 2 million opioid abusers. Presumable 100% of the opioid users are also drunks so that means there are 7.5 drunks in the US who aren't opioid users for every opioid abuser / drunk. There are close to 37 million smokers (cigaretters only, not cigars and not any sort of smokeless tobacco use) so the numbers of smokers, assuming that all opioid users are also addicted to tobacco is about 17 -1. And 1 in 5 preventable deaths in the US each year happen because of tobacco use....not to mention the loss of productivity and associated health problems.

No, Opioids abuse is not the exact same thing as alcohol and tobacco abuse....the latter two are MUCH more corrosive to society.

You truly have to be reacting to emotion to suggest that the number people abusing opioids is remotely close to the number of people smoking and drinking.
