This great recruiter title he's given is a myth. He happened to luck into a dozen highly rated legacy recruits and some of the most talented classes in state history that he could sell instant playing time to.


His recruiting this year is much more in line with where he is as a recruiter, getting his arse handed to him by Clemson in state and not being able to close on hardly any highly rated recruits.

I agree with this, but perception is reality. He took in way more commits than were allowed by the SEC and got them onto campus via loopholes. That gave him "higher" rated classes, but many of those kids had to transfer when he kept grabbing more and more kids every year. Eventually, he did start to pull in some better kids based on the "faux momentum" of previous classes.
