Right. That's why OSU was dominating the stat line throughout the game. If OSU didn't shoot themselves in the foot early in the game and came away with TDs instead of field goals (dropped TD, a bad catch on a snap), then OSU would have won that game by 20 points.
They outscored Bama 36-14 from the middle of the 2nd quarter on. It was 21-6 at one point

Possibly, but the flow of the game is dictated by the actions in it.
If events played out differently as you hypothesized, other events would also have unfolded in reaction to them, so who knows what may or may not have happened.
That said, tOSU was the more prepared team that night. It was a function of limited film on Cardale Jones and adjustments UM made for his ability. But, as CNS/staff/players fully acknowledged after the fact, it was also a lesson learned for a 2 game playoff prep. Too little focus was placed on the game in front of them as efforts were diluted in prep for all 3 potential match ups.
That lesson learned was largely reflected in the MSU dominance in last year's CFP. CNS' "process," specifically on D, requires a lot of prep for an opponent... especially a dynamic one. That is why I am very much in favor of UA getting the tougher match up with an O that challenges their schematic weaknesses on D in the first round. Dedicate more energy to that game and allow players to simply make plays in the next game in a match up that favors their strengths.
