Let's look at Woodward's past...
quote:
Cohen’s predecessor, Scott Woodward, gave Romar a 10-year contract extension that pays him $1.7 million annually and expires after the 2019-20 season.
Securing Romar to a long-term deal made sense in 2010 following a run to the Sweet 16 when he was drawing interest from college and NBA teams.
Since then, Washington has made just one NCAA tournament appearance and has a five-year Big Dance drought — its longest since a 12-year absence between 1986 and 1998. Romar is the only coach in a Power 5 conference who hasn’t taken his current team to the tourney in the past five years.

You do know if he had not given him that raise, Romar would have left. Then you'd be complaining today about how he ran away their successful Sweet 16 coach to the NBA because he called his bluff.
College sports is a business. Being mad at lucrative contracts and high buyouts is pretty damn stupid. They have to happen if you want to attract the best talent.

That's actually not true. Here's a list of P5 schools who have not made the tournament in the past 5 years and still have the same coach.
Clemson
Florida State
Penn State
Washington
And a special shout out to Northwestern who have never made the NCAA tournament.
Also if these schools don't make the tourney this year then you can them to the list.
DePaul (Big East counts as a power conference)
Illinois
South Carolina
