That "loathsome human being" recruited the first African-American basketball player, Tom Payne, to play at UK. Before that he conducted a recruiting war with Louisville for Wesley Unseld in 1964 that would have been the first A-A in the SEC.
His contributions to the poor community in Lexington and Central Kentucky included campaigns for low cost housing long before it became popular as Habitat for Humanity. Coach is buried in the Lexington Cemetery amongst the 68,000 ordinary people he served as head of the most popular athletic program in the Commonwealth.
I wish you ignorant people would at least cite sources for what made him so despicable. But, of course, you can't. Coach Rupp wanted to change the segregated SEC long before it happened. Look to your own bigots for the reasons it remained so for so long. Coach Rupp was not one of them.

Just looked this guy up.
Talk about a low character individual. Had a bad temper during games, and is a repeat rapist who is currently in prison.
Yikes, that is unfortunate that he had to be the first African American to play at Kentuckcy.
