Relative to their era, that Nebraska team (and the 2001 Miami team) were more dominating, certainly on offense. The triple option though, was notably schemed out of existence shortly thereafter by dramatically faster defenses. The 2015-2016 Alabama teams are the apex predators of that evolution.
However, if you took the teams in a vacuum and lined them up to play any of the recent vintage Alabama teams 2009-2016 are better physically.

I think it's more schemed out by recruiting. It's hard to get elite guys when the offense doesn't prepare you for the NFL.
