Giving Justin Smith time to relax and come back home to be the D-Line coach

So the best thing for a SEC DL is a first time coach with no background in recruiting? Haven't we had enough of the only qualification is being "true son?" How about grabbing someone with a recruiting background in Texas or Florida?

I don't think he would want the job, but I do think he'd be able to recruit.
What better guy than a NFL Hall of Famer?

You are joking right? He walks in a recruits door and says I played 13 years in the NFL and I am a future HOF and one of the best ever. I'll take you to the top at the school that took me to the top

Love Justin Smith, but that alone won't land recruits. If you look at the "top recruiters" list, personal NFL success is normally not a part of their resume.

Let me know how many Justin Smiths on that list?

No one cares about his success, it's how can you make the recruit successful. He has no background in making recruits successful. High school coaches aren't going to be anxious to back him, and they are the gatekeepers to the best recruits. Ask Illinois how the NFL pedigree is working. And lets be totally honest... do you really think Justin Smith is going to have AA families in the south falling all over themselves because he played in the NFL? Throw a rock in Florida or Texas and you will hit a former NFL player.
