SC vs. Florida preview.

I downloaded the entire SC vs. Missouri game and these are some thoughts that I'm having.
South Carolina's Offense:
Summary: It's bad.
Strengths:
1. Wide Receivers. Not the fastest, but they can make average quarterbacks look better by making the grabs.
2. Quarterback play. Kid's a natural, doesn't panic.* (See X-Factor Section)
Weaknesses:
1. Offensive line is bad. Missouri was knocking down and pressuring Bentley quite a bit.
2. Playcalling is very predictable.
South Carolina's Defense
Strength:
There's really nothing good.
Weakness:
1. Run defense is porous, Missouri moved the ball pretty easily and had two +20 yard touchdown runs.
2. Pass defense got cut up by Lock without much of a problem. Missouri had two very long drives where they just moved through.
Conclusion on South Carolina: South Carolina is living off their offense with their new quarterback.
X-Factors:
If we see Appleby playing, this will be his first home game. His numbers may be better than on the road.
Bentley will be playing his first away game, some guys feed off the energy but some people collapse.
Prediction:
Bentley having his first game with a silent count behind a terrible offensive line and average rushing could spell disaster, they will also be playing for, arguably, the most hated Florida ex-coach of all time (easily in my opinion) and both teamss are playing for the East.
With that, from most likely to most unlikely.
Florida wins convincingly. (14 points.)
Florida wins a close game. (7 or less.)
South Carolina wins a close game.
Florida blows out SC. (21 or more.)
South Carolina wins convincingly.
South Carolina wins in a blowout.
Interesting note:
Muschamp's team looks almost the exact same on offense and defense, just with less talent.

So youre saying theres a chance? :)
Sorry had to.
I think it depends on our QB. If he doesnt turn it over and can make the gimmie throws we ll win. If not

That's the X-Factor.
If Appleby or one of the freshmen can get the ball rolling without jacking it up too bad, then we stand a chance.
South Carolina is going to have to really, really be on their game, though.
Missouri is god awful, and they were just going through Carolina like they were nothing.
We're going to be soft at Linebacker, but safety help should be on the way because really, Bentley's receivers bailed him out on some terrible floaters that would have been picked off by defensive backs who knew how to play.

South Carolina lives and dies on turnovers. Protect the ball and win the game.

So we have to play it safe and run it a lot?
Welp, we're gonna lose.

First one to 10 and 200 yards of offense wins. WM is going to load the box and dare us to throw. It's going to be TOP game.

Well at least we're home so we won't have to deal with crowd noise as opposed to them.
They probably haven't worked on the silent count with this kid yet and that offensive line was being absolutely dominated by Missouri.
I like our chances, if we play smart.

He did start at UT though.

No, Bentley has not had an Away game.

IMO another big factor in our favor is our special teams play. Specifically the punting game. If we can keep them pinned deep in their own territory and let the noise take over we win. I'll be hoping for short fields for Appleby.

This is going to be a WM special, punt fest.

Appleby is the starter. SMH

Florida coach Jim McElwain announces that Austin Appleby will start this weekend at QB for the Gators against South Carolina. True freshman Feleipe Franks has been getting the most reps behind Appleby and could also play this weekend as well, but that hasn't been determined yet. "We're not afraid at any point of playing him. ... As we move forward we need a spark (on offense." McElwain added that Franks' upside "is huge."

I'm not going to think either way on Appleby until I see him playing at home. He played twice on the road, and playing Tennessee at Tennessee is no place to have your first real-time snaps.
He seemed to actually get the ball downfield pretty easy, and his timing was lightyears ahead of Del Rio.
So, maybe, he comes in and gives us that spark we've so depserately needed.
But I have a really good feeling about Franks, but only in a year or two. I don't think he's ready yet, but he can definitely be worked into a very good quarterback.

Watching the Tennessee game vs. South Carolina:
So far, Muschamp's defense has looked absolutely abysmal. They're not smart, and they're not in the right positions (like always) and making bonehead penalties.
Most of South Carolina's drives have been on the ground, Bentley has won with scrambles, not really passing yet (although again, his receivers are flat out making plays for him).

Their defense has improved dramatically compared to the last 2 years. It's really good now. Their offense is awful just like ours though

It sounds like Applybe will be the starter the rest of the year unless he is injured. If we were going to play one of the freshmen QBs then this is the game.

I had faith in Del Rio before the Arkansas game.
I have zero faith in Appleby.
I'm dead serious: I think UF loses badly tomorrow.

I expect a bunch of losses then. Appleby does nothing to build for next year
Posted on 11/11/16 at 6:57 pm to TJGator1215
Let's give Appleby a chance and hope he can make better decisions then LDR
But if Florida does lose then I am all in about taking off a red shirt for QB go young and do not look back!!!

I don't think Mac would do that.
