This team seems to be better balanced than any of his previous teams. The added dimension of a running QB, the talented receivers, and the improvement in the running game make the offense almost impossible to defend.

The defensive front and lbs are super strong and quick and the unit is adding depth. The pressure placed on opposing QBs is intense. I don't even buy the argument that the secondary is weak.

The only problem seems to be kicking make-able field goals.

Can't wait to see how things go against A&M -- the best team to face so far

I think this has been asked almost every year.

I'll only entertain thoughts like this after a successful national championship season. Long way to go

But you have to admit that,at this point in the season, this team is way ahead of last year's team.

Jalen Hurts as athletic as he is seems to be a liability in the downfield passing game.

That seems to be the only weakness I've seen.

If we are able to throw accurately/effectively & not give up 400 yds passing. Then I would say yes.

I would argue after this week. We will have faced the best QBs we will face until the playoffs.

Hurts has thrown some excellent long balls. He has been a little off the last couple of games. There hasn't been as much of a need for the big plays though.

I don't think he's a liability, but he is erratic and inconsistent passing the ball right now. He's a true freshman, and I think the pundits are probably correct in that he has to adjust to the speed of the receivers and the defense. That said, I think AJ McCarron is still the best qb of the Saint Nick Saban era. Hurts may be that before he's through, and I think he will, but he's not there yet.

As for the original question: This team has to win a national title before it can even be considered the best Saban team.

Not even close. College football parity is just close to its peak right now, and a lot of the top 15 programs are rebuilding, reloading, or firing their coaches.

Hurts has been hurt by some drops and some inaccurate throws. He is good for 4-5 inaccurate throws, 1-2 drops, and a turn over per game. Thus far.

My personal favorite is the "Can Alabama beat an NFL team?" thread. Then they compare players at positions, and argue how Alabama can beat certain NFL teams.

anybody insinuating that any college team could beat any NFL team is so dumb they shouldn't be listened to about sports for the rest of time.

But let's be for real: He's also missed more than he should, and underthrown several passes that, though complete, would have been touchdowns if he hit the receivers in stride. No qb throws a perfect ball every time, but he has missed more than a very good qb does.

There used to be a game where college all-stars would play an NFL team. I remember that the all-stars beat the NFL team once. So there's that.

2011 and 2012 were better.

Still waiting to see how they do next week against A&M and against LSU.

Defensive secondary is weak
