Are they really not allowing the Vandy band to play the halftime performance on homecoming? The opposing teams band is performing it?

They have to draw from local colleges like Belmont and Lipscomb to round out their band and cheerleaders.

Tennessee State's band (who Vandy is playing that weekend) has a somewhat famous marching band.
That said, 0 excuse to not allow the Vandy band to play. Somebody throw at brick at David Williams

I don't care how famous their band is. It's a disgrace that the admins even attempt to keep the home band from playing homecoming.

The $$ from Vandys meager athletic income goes straight to nerds with glasses and pocket protectors in the academia setting that Vandy cares about...sports? They may have 2,000 dollars in their fund.
They need to really pull a Tulane and Ga Tech and withdraw from the conference since they have 0 support...shame I like them and Mason has made lemonade out of sewer water and anyone who thinks he cant coach is nuts.

That being said, they are probably following Stanfords example…..
Last year Stanford hired K State (all black) band to play in the NCAA basketball tournament and they were way better than Stanfords actual band.
