I'm very serious. Did you honestly think that we had any idea what kind of coach Kirby Smart would be? Why would anybody think that? Great coaches are rare, you can't just pull one out of a hat, or at least it's extremely uncommon to do that. Saban's been coaching since before Smart was born, he didn't hand his defense over to Kirby Smart. Smart wasn't even really a coordinator; he was Saban's flunky, teaching basic skills to Saban's best in the nation recruits while Nick called the shots. If you thought that somehow meant he was destined for greatness in the next few years at UGA, his first head coaching job, time to wake up and face reality. He's setting records, of the wrong kind already and we're gonna take a few steps back for several years.
