congrats you got kids from out of state. do you want a cookie? we land kids from out of state all the time and with ease. However, its much easier to maintain power status if your state produces talent and you don't have to split that talent.

TOSU consistent power because they are in a recruit filled state, USC consistent power because home state kids can get them back on the map. FSU consistent power because of the ease of getting florida kids. Miami and so on, any program in a talent rich state is always a threat.

Nebraska is a has been because they have no instate talent to help them in lean years and get their footing back. They are gone, they lost their jucos and the out of state kids don't make them a top choice.

as long as La has talent it will keep LSU as a top 10 job.

i think you may be living in the past tho, the reality is more programs are trying to be comeptitive in football now than back in the day, look at the emergencence of Baylor, TCU, etc, and this is diluting the talent level. that is why you have seen so many historic programs struggle in recent years, and they keep firing coaches but nothing changes.
