Next year is gonna be a mess. The entire defense will almost be gone and this offense is average. Mac needs to clean house. We won't win big with this staff.

And this is where not capitalizing on his big year one with a huge or frankly even average (for Florida) recruiting class might doom Mac long term. Its realistic, hell its probable that, even if he's a good coach, with the current talent on roster and what we look to be bringing in this year Mac will post 3 years of steadily worsening rosters. This is where the Richt comparison is dumb-- Mark Richt won the SEC twice in his first five years including in year 2, he actually showed one hell of a lot of improvement both on the field and in recruiting before plateauing-- Mac hasn't. A better Mac comparison might be a lower ceiling Gus Malzahn.

With a rebuilding defense and an offensive line that even his biggest backers will tell you is likely to still be in the learning phase here's Mac's probable first 3 years (and remember this is with the 3 worst recruiting classes we've had since we started tracking them)

2015: 10-4
2016: 9-4
2017: 8-5

This brings us to the 2017 offseason where for recruiting purposes Mac will need an extension, and remember basically all of the national title winning coaches still coaching won National and/or Conference titles in year two-- just like basically every good coach (and some bad ones) has their big bump recruiting class in year 2-- which means Mac's big year-- the one you use to see what kind of recruiter he can be once he has on the field results to sell recruits on is fringe top 10, middle of the pack in the SEC and second in the state of Florida.

Heck its a real possibility that over the next 2-3 seasons Mac has us 3rd in recruiting in-state.
