I think this is a good thing for both parties. I'm not sure about hiring a lifelong fan of one school to be the AD at another school. Especially in the SEC.
It's just different here.

We are just lucky that he is a big MSU person.
Of course we have some fans that want to get rid of him...for what reason I have no idea.

He still could go to Florida. All depends on what his market value to the Gators is and how high they want to go on his contract.
