I listen to news every day here and there are shootings all over the city. How about New York? I've been there I wouldn't venture to far away from times square are get caught on the subway late at night.

Crime in New Orleans is at around a 50 year low if I recall as far as violent crime. Still not safe by any means, but it isn't Memphis.
