You can't cherry pick games. So far, this run first defense is the worst run defense we've had since coming to the SEC. Small sample size, I know, but that's what it is. We've been in the top half of the SEC in run D every year but 1 and last year we were #2. So no, it's completely inaccurate to state that our run D has "always been a problem" far from it, actually.

And actually, if you look at the Auburn game that's not what happened at all. We scrapped the defense we had been running all year in favor of a read scheme and it cost us the chance at a national title.

When those games are the ones you have to win to get to the CCG or NCG, yes, you can cherry pick them because they are the ones that matter. No one cares about steam rolling Iowa State. Letting Roy Helu set a school record with the division on the line is unacceptable.

Would you like to guess the YPG rushing allowed during those cherry picked losses?

Jesus I'm not cherry picking games; I just responded & agreed with another poster on the Navy & Auburn games about gap control.

Gap control in our 1st 2 games hasn't been good but neither has our tackling and we've had too many defensive penalties. All 3 can be fixed fairly easy but it takes discipline from the D guys. We have the talent, now we need the execution and all will be well in Zou land.
