A&M looked solid. They have warts but it was a solid performance.

Auburn was jekyl and hyde offense and defense, but their defense was lights out.

Everyone else.......

UW would've beaten everyone but Alabama and maybe UGA and UF.

I think Wisky could have pushed A&M around more than they did LSU. Didn't see the whole game of A&M though so who knows. Other than we stunk the joint up

Let's be clear here : Wisconsin is a #25-35 type team. They are not an elite team and will not be this season. For your own good, don't try and talk yourself into that. They'll go 9-3 (10-2 since they beat LSU I guess) because their division is garbage, but they are no better than Iowa last year or even their own bunch last year.
Well, let's be clear about something else, too:

Wisconsin has beaten LSU and Auburn in recent seasons. Ohio State has beaten Alabama. Missouri and Texas A&M came into the SEC from the Big 12 and experienced instant success, Mizzou has won the East twice and A&M went from also-ran to a team that beat Bama in Tuscaloosa. I could go on.

The myth that the SEC is stunningly head-and-shoulders above the rest of college football is just that- a myth.

Right now, I would say Wisconsin would do ok in the SEC. They won by 2 over us; Arkansas won by 1 over La Tech. I'd give Wisky the edge there. Miss St lost to South Alabama, I'd give Wisky the edge there too. They likely get rolled by Bama, but that means nothing, since we all do. Vs Auburn- don't know, as Auburn plays Clemson a lot, and that game was at home. Vs Tennessee- I'd give Wisky the edge there too. Vs A&M- honestly depends on time of season; early goes to A&M, late I'd take the Badgers. That's how the Aggies roll.
I'd say Wisky beats USCe and Vandy, not sure about Fla, and honestly should play UGA close (if they could clog Fournette up, they likely do similar vs Chubb).

We have no idea about Ole Miss yet.

Point being, we probably just played a team that is comparable with the vast majority of our conference, played in a location that favored them, played poorly, and absolutely had a chance to win. We made a ton of first-game jitters type of mistakes (I don't expect Guice to fumble deep in our territory, I think Dupre will catch more balls thrown his way, I think the o-line will play a little better as things progress).
I think things will be fine, if not national-championship great.

There is no real answer because its a bullshite topic.

How can anyone say with certanty if team xyz played this team they wouldve lost as well.

Seems to me LSU fans are just trying to justify a loss instead of just admitting their team shite the bed in a game where the convo this past week was all about Lambeau Leaps instead of the opponent. In their minds the game was won before they stepped onto the field. But Wisc had other plans.

So LSU is just a middle of the pack SEC team now then?

Alright, that settles it.

I just, you guys baffle me. It's the same looking team that got woodshedded 3 straight times in November and you guys just expect magic dust will make it all better in SEC games.

It's mindboggling.

We were clearly the best conference for several years. But there was never a time when the bottom of the SEC was better than the top of the other Power 5 conferences. That was myth perpetuated by the bottom half to ride the coattails of Bama, Florida, and LSU at the peak of the SEC strength.

All that being said, week one looks like the conference has slipped. Let's see what week two looks like before going into hiding.

um, yeah, pretty much. Did you honestly expect something different?

Did Alabama suddenly announce that they are discontinuing the football program? Did Saban step down? Did the NCAA nail them on recruiting violations and put them on probation?
Because if not, who we hire as coach might affect whether we finish 2nd or 8th, but for the foreseeable future, isn't going to return us to the top of the SEC. And as a reminder- we never were alone at the top before; we alternated years with Auburn winning the West, with Arky tossed in; and Florida, Tennessee and UGA took turns winning the East.
It just happened that when we (LSU) and Florida won the SEC, we also were able to win the BCS too.

Alabama is and has been the big dog in the SEC, like Kentucky in basketball; and like it or not, when they get their program right, it doesn't make a lot of difference what the rest of us are doing. That's reality.

It's just that this was not the attitude 5 days ago, so it's hard to know where people are coming from.

U will not white hat to push around anymore. Names like Kiffin and Petrino are being passed around now. Open the prisons and see who can tackle, go after thugs, rapist and murderers like Saban does, buy them left and right like Ole Miss, and be All in like Auburn. The mood is as ugly and nasty as I have ever seen in 50 plus years. This season is going to get ugly fast. It is almost as if u expect to see a crowd after the game grab touches and start burning things

Ok, so what did you expect?

Are you the guy sitting in the corner holding his breath and turning blue, until LSU fires Miles and hires... who, Bill Belechik? Because outside of that, we're not going to hire a coach who matches up favorably to Saban, and despite all this "we're wasting NFL talent" talk, Bama has the significant edge in talent on the field. Recruiting #1 classes every single season does that for you.

We have Fournette, he's a great back. So was Gurley and Lattimore, they were on good teams too, and they didn't win titles either.

We can compete with 98% of the teams in college football year-in and year-out, we happen to be in the same conference with Alabama, when they are experiencing maybe the greatest stretch of any program in modern college football history. Sucks for us (and the rest of the SEC), but denying it won't change it.

What does that have to do with what I said?

LSU lost to Arkansas, Ole Miss and Wisconsin over their last 6 games. Those teams aren't Alabama. My point was the expectation that things will just get better seems silly.
