Bielema gets a lot more leeway than Butch.

Bc you and your fans have terrible expectations

quote:

Bielema's split with Tech, lost a P5 road game to Rutgers, and the loss to Toledo does hurt-- but it is largely mitigated by winning the two bowl games against P5 conference teams very handily

Here we go again. You're giving props to Bert for something that Butch has done too(and in a more convincing fashion against better opponents).

Bowl Games - opponents - Score

Bert

Liberty Bowl vs K-State (6-7) 45-23
Texas Bowl vs Texas (6-7) 31-7
total points for/against: 76-30 (opp record: 12-14)

Butch

Outback Bowl vs #22 Northwestern (10-3) 45-6
Taxslayer Bowl vs Iowa (7-6) 45-28
total points for/against: 90-34 (opp record: 17-9)

quote:

The 'He Lost To Toledo!' bit gets bandied about a lot, but it generally just demonstrates how little attention people pay-- Toledo wasn't a *bad* team. They just weren't a P5 team. Florida catches a ton less flack for a loss to Georgia Southern under similar circumstances, despite being perceived as a better program

You both deserve flak. You both lost to G5 teams. Shouldn't happen in the SEC

quote:

The recruiting argument doesn't hold up to scrutiny either, when trying to claim Petrino had left more on hand-- his classes were built on bulk signings of skill position players, most of whom worked out of the program or left even before he did-- and his other high points were a couple of linemen who washed out of the program before BB's second year. Tennessee had a much stronger talent base from which to work, against significantly worse competition.

This all goes out the window when you consider that Dooley didn't recruit a single offensive lineman in the 2012 cycle. Skill positions? come on

quote:

It'd take a truly catastrophic year-- 4 or 5 wins-- to make his job be in question.

I just feel bad for you that its his 4th year and you wouldn't want him fired if he went 6-6

Dude, no matter what you say to try and disparage Bret Bielema, he beat Tennessee on the road last year.
