This has little to do with production. It certainly doesn't necessarily mean that this year's starters won't be more productive and talented. Barring injury, this year's defense will be an improvement.

Well for starters, this is wrong. Plus I think everyone would agree that whoever wins the other DE spot between Davidson and Cowart is an upgrade over Lambert.
