Yes, but a solid hire for, say, five years, is a damn good deal. You have plenty of time to line up a replacement or for him to groom his own, and you get an AD in (as odd as this will sound) the prime of their AD career given how the business works.

We all want a brilliant AD who can spend decades on the job. They just don't come along that often.
