My wife teases me endlessly about my "quaint phrases," almost all if which I picked up just from parroting my dad growing up

The trippy thing (for her, and for those who don't know me) is that I have no Texas accent at all. Apparently I sound like I'm from the midwest or something. So that type of diction paired with sayings like "rode hard and put up wet" is a hilarious juxtaposition for her

Between that and the random weird snippets of Spanish I like to use, idk what to tell people.

My maternal grandfather was a Texas Aggie who worked construction in the oil fields all over the world, so God knows how many accents and expressions I picked up from him. Sometimes I don't even realize when I'm using a Spanish or French idiom that I've subconsciously translated into English.
