He wasn't second without the extra game he had.

No doubt. Michael Smith turned it into a strength while dealing with all the injuries.
Hatcher, Morgan, Cornelius, Reed, Hollister with youngsters Stewart/Pettway and Jones/Boateng plus walk-ons Enlow and McClure.

I know this sounds like a complete homer thing to say (like everything else I post), but Arkansas has the best wide receiver corp I've ever seen come through this school. And that's saying a lot.
Last season Arkansas lost three of its top four receivers just before the start of the season and still had one of the most productive groups in the entire country. Drew Morgan is one of the best receivers I've ever seen play at the collegiate level, Dominique Reed has the speed to get behind any defense and the hands to catch anything thrown his way, and Jared Cornelius is just a beast. Keon Hatcher has the potential to go in the top two rounds of the draft this year if he doesn't suffer any more injuries.

And they still have that number 5 guy there. He will be in the running for a second Mackey Award in as many years for the Hogs this year. Dude is a matchup nightmare.

I will say that in most of the Arkansas games from last year that I watched, I was very impressed with the WRs. Not only the production, but the big play/big moment capabilities that they showed.

I wasn't trying to imply Bama has a bad group; Bama has a very good group. I am not sold on the notion that they're the #1 group in the conference, much less #2 in the country though, largely because of usage and scoring (not questioning the eliteness of the talent itself). In 2015, Ridley, Stewart, and Howard combined for two more touchdowns than a hobbled Laquon Treadwell reeled in by himself, and most of the country had forgotten Howard even existed before his explosion in the CFPCG.

I repeat, without the third of his total yards in the extra game he was not second. I am just saying I think Bama fans are expecting a lot from a guy who has been just another TE aside from 1 game in 3 years.

Auburn plays 4 of the Top 10. Their secondary better be ready to roll.
It's the best group we've had since Tuberville. I know, I know, that's not saying much. But it's a very solid group

Yep - he'll be very good. Hogs also throw to the tight ends as part of their base offense a lot more than most teams in the conference, so they are guaranteed more catches.
Yards per Catch (minimum 20 catches)
1. OJ Howard (BAMA) - 15.8
2. Jerell Adams (SC) - 15.0
3. Hunter Henry (ARK) - 14.5
4. Jeremy Sprinkle (ARK) - 14.4
5. Ethan Wolfe (TN) - 13.1
6. Evan Engram (OM) - 12.2
7. Jake McGee (FLA) - 9.3

A lot of it is the system they are playing in. Dan Enos has shown an incredible ability to get the ball to the right guys in the right situations. Arkansas's receivers's YAC last year were off the charts. But the rest of it is that they have a bunch of hard nosed guys that don't mind a bit helping their teammates get touches. If I remember the game correctly, it was against LSU last year that Drew Morgan laid two defenders out with one block on a play that went for a long TD. It may have been a jet sweep ran by Cornelius for 60 yards or so.

I expect him to do what he did last year except at a bit more expanded level : have certain games where he exploits a matchup and have solid, 4-5 catch, 70-100 yards performances and others where the defense keys on him and we go to another weakness.
I don't think anyone expects (or needs) him to average 100 yards a game.

Any time he's been used, he's produced. Kind of hard to expect him to put up other worldly numbers when you have a WR finishing 3rd in Heisman voting one year, an RB winning Heisman the next year, and Bama spreads it around so much.
Howard is a mismatch nightmare for any team and I'm pretty sure we'll see that more in 2016.

Yea, I'd say that Ole Miss/A&M/Alabama are probably all pretty interchangeable at the top.
Talent wise LSU should be in there too.

He has had 2 games in 3 years where he had 70+ yards.

I agree, if people believed LSU had a QB, LSU would probably be in the top 5-7

I would not interchange any of our starters for any ole miss receiver.

Yea, like I said, I expect 1-2 catches and 15-25 yards more per game out him this season. He'll be more of a focus for us. He had 5 games last year with 50+ yards.
I expect him to average 40-50 yards per game. Some weeks he will have 1 catch for 13 yards and some weeks he will have 6 catches for 80 yards. I would be pretty shocked if he had a substandard year next year. But you never know.
