That's why he laid face down on the turf with his hands on his head after doing it against Florida when they scored off his idiocy. He knew what a fundamentally stupid decision he had just made. And his coaches did.

one of the big turning points for me with richt. After that (probably the 3rd or 4th awful return decision RD had made that year) we patted him on the butt and said "good job!" as he headed towards the bench. No dog cussing, no arse chewing, no getting in his face telling him why he fricked up. Just "oh well buddy, we'll get em next time".

Why McKenzie wasn't back to return every punt last season when he was healthy was one of the biggest mysteries of last season. It was almost like Richt wanted a rotation just to say he had a rotation when McKenzie was clearly the best return man on the team (and probably the SEC).

Kid knows he fricked up. They'll remind him plenty in practice that week and he'll get dressed down in the film room the next day. I'd prefer to keep the kid's head in the game as there's still time on that clock.

I can see this. He probably should have got on them more. Whether it was a lack of focus, poor decision making whatever, it should have been addressed.

If Richt was gonna bitch out Davis for screwing the pooch four times, shouldn't the AD have jumped all over Richt about .25 picoseconds later for still putting Davis in those positions?
