The intangibles (I think). His players compete every play, and that's not just having a talented group. That comes from being obsessed with preparation and pushing your players to their limit during practice. Maybe it just comes down to the stress he imposes on his teams that translates into victories on the field.
The tangibles (obvious, and probably not exhaustive). He has great coordinators and knows how to recruit like a son of a bitch.

That "process" trickles down from Saban to his coaching/administrative staff to his players on down to the people fixing food/drinks to the folks working the phones and on down to the guys picking up the trash & washing the towels.
