Bloody Sunday in Selma was Sunday, March 7, 1965

The Interstate Highway System wasn't authorized until 1956, and no state had a complete Interstate system until 1974

So they weren't blocked because they weren't completed yet

However, US 80 that passes over the Edmond Pettus Bridge would've been a major traveled route at that time
