Cheek stepping down once a replacement is found.

I think they're now actively looking for a replacement and that Spring '17 is more of a deadline. If they find someone now I imagine they'll get the ball rolling sooner rather than later

Somewhat. I just think that donors are not happy with all of the negative attention the University is constantly getting (some lawsuit, some diversity/pride funding, the xe/he/she pronouns, Lady Vols name change, etc.). It's literally been one thing after another and different factions of donors are just tired of it.

I would say it is partially related...the guy is in his 70's...so he might just want to teach a couple of years before drawing his overly inflated pension.
