This is the crazy thing to me. When I think UGA glory days, I think Dooley. Richt's winning percentage was higher (74.5% - 72.3%), so y'all naturally fired the guy. This isn't meant to be a dig at UGA - the same unrealistic expectations are everywhere.

The problem with Richt was not his overall resume... it was the trajectory of Georgia football during his tenure. Just look at where we finished ranked each season:

2001: #22
2002: #3
2003: #7
2004: #7
2005: #10
2006: #23
2007: #2
2008: #13
2009: -
2010: -
2011: #19
2012: #5
2013: -
2014: #9
2015: -

There is no excuse for Georgia to not be ranked in the Top 25 at the end of a season. Heck even Jim Donnan managed to do that most years

1996: -
1997: #10
1998: #14
1999: #16
2000: #20

Richt finally brought us the SEC Championship that Donnan could never win. The only problem is after winning 2 SEC Championships in four seasons, he proceeded to go another decade without one, and failed to produce a ranked team in the final poll in 4 of his last 7 years.

Eventually its time to pull the plug.
