I would disagree.

Outside of 2008, 2011 and 2012, the Iron Bowl has been close every year since Nick Saban arrived at Alabama. Two of those seasons just so happened to be some of the worst in Auburn history, so just about every team beat up on them. The Iron Bowl has been generally competitive even given Nick Saban being at Alabama and Auburn going through 3, possibly 4, coaching changes.

2007: 17-10, Auburn
2008: 36-0, Alabama
2009: 26-21, Alabama
2010: 28-27, Auburn
2011: 42-14, Alabama
2012: 49-0, Alabama
2013: 34-28, Auburn
2014: 55-44, Alabama
2015: 29-13, Alabama

Do you honestly believe that the majority of the Auburn hierarchy wouldn't be receptive to the idea of having Alabama off their yearly schedule? I'd give you odds that the coaching staff would love it....and I don't blame them.

I would never ever give up the Iron Bowl for any reason. Neither would I want it played at any other time other than the last regular season game of the season. Win or lose, the presence of the game is too important to Auburn to have anyone screw around with it.

Like I said, it's not so much your team. We love great competition.

...but your trashy State and football fans are another issue. The whole State is only known for Alabama Football. That is it, except for:

Things like poisoning trees (due to Football), murdering people (due to Football), and sexually molesting other people (due to Football)...and trying to leap on and kick other people during a football game (a.k.a "Assault on another innocent individual"--we call it a "Flying Lady" on the Plains) (due to Football) and attempting to close another Football's Football program down (UAB), against their wishes, that your University owned due to "financial concerns"...that would take money away from your own Football program...and something, something...more Football.

I am getting tired of listing more things.

Hate your football-driven State and hate your cheap University.

Auburn would not miss Alabama for a second. Let's move East boys. War Eagle, and let's have some fun playing our more traditional rivals!

Wife is part of the "Auburn hierarchy" and this is in no way shape or form true.

Auburn loves the Iron Bowl. We just hate having to play the Mississippi, Arkansas and Texas schools now. Playing historically relevant schools is more exciting for a fan base than playing teams who have never sniffed a NC

If the argument is playing Alabama vs UF/UTk/UGA that is an extremely easy choice as ticket sales/excitement is greater for 3 games than any 1 game
