But you've continued to regurgitate inaccuracies. Makes me question everything you're harping on.

According to the Clarion-Ledger, Alabama has expressed interest in MSU coach John Cohen.

The coaching moves also may not be finished. Sources told The Clarion-Ledger that Alabama is interested in John Cohen, while Arkansas is looking at pitching coach Wes Johnson, who arrived on campus earlier this year. Cohen grew up in Tuscaloosa, while Johnson is a native of Sherwood, Arkansas, and graduated from Arkansas-Monticello

I smell someone fishing for a raise. 1) the report is in the Clarion-Ledger, meaning the story was leaked from the Cohen camp or it would be in a different newspaper most likely. 2) Cohen's name came out of nowhere with the tenuous link to Bama being that he is from Tuscaloosa. Big deal, StarkVegas is an hour down the road. It's not like he's in California. 3) he played at State. He's AT home for all intents and purposes. Why would he want to coach for Bama?
I maintain we are still talking with our targets or they are still playing ball and Cohen isnt among either group but wants a bump in pay so he called a contact in Jackson and leaked his name in connection to the Tide. It'll probably work too but it's not hard to see through.
I believe we are still targeting Pierce, the ECU guy, or possibly Calvi at USA. I did hear an interesting if slightly far fetched story on another board that the TCU guy is on the radar and his interest is being measured. That would be a home run hire for sure but I think it's just an interesting rumor.

There's more of a chance at Dan McConnell
or the like that landing Cohen. But odd that it leaked from the Clarion-Ledger.

Well. The second part of that blurb from the Clarion-Ledger is indeed true. Arkansas has hired State's pitching coach to the same position.

From BOL:
- It appears David Pierce is going to be the domino that kicks off the Alabama and Texas hires. He's a Texas native so he may take that job or he may elect to stay at Tulane.
- Cliff Godwin has expressed interest in the Alabama job.
- John Cohen, a Tuscaloosa native, checks off the most boxes on Battle's wish list and Alabama is interested in him.
Not much of an update.

From a poster on BOL:

Announcement expected any moment, but by the end of the week, according to a great friend that is in the know. Think someone was getting the last interview today and there have already been at least 2 interviews earlier this week. My friend says put your money on the G's, which means Godwin or Goff.

Godwin for me. Coached under Corbin, Bianco, and Mainieri. Tons of SEC experience. And has done a very good job at East Carolina.

But Goff is intriguing. Coached in Alabama at Montevallo. Turned around three programs at Montevallo, Campbell, and Louisiana Tech pretty quickly.

Here are Goff's year by year records:
Montevallo:
2004: 26-27
2005: 36-22
2006: 43-18
2007: 47-17
Campbell:
2008: 21-37
2009: 27-24
2010: 28-27
2011: 17-37
2012: 41-18
2013: 49-10
2014: 41-21
Louisiana Tech:
2015: 25-27
2016: 42-20
The one thing that this doesn't show is that Campbell was in the Atlantic Sun Conference his first 4 years there (they never finished higher than 10th in conference play). They joined the Big South Conference in 2012 and never finished lower than 2nd.
Did the conference change facilitate the improvement is the question I have. Meaning did their competition get a lot easier?

Godwin is looking more and more like the best option to me. I'll be real happy if he's the man. I think he'll put us back in the top 2 or 3 in the league.

Maybe not consistently, as there is more competition in the SEC than when Jim Wells was coaching. But I can see the right coach, with the new facilities, having Alabama consistently good, with occasional runs at SEC titles and Omaha.

I'd have to know a lot more about what he was working with at Campbell. I can only judge him on the upward tick his record displays at each stop. Of course that can be deceiving.
But coincidentally, Gaspard was the same coach at Northwestern State that he was at Alabama (judging the record).

Mervyl Melendez a top choice to take FIU opening.

According to Drew DeArmond, Godwin is the frountrunner. Here is his Twitter. He also says Goff is in the mix but it's looking like Godwin will be the guy
