Maybe discrimination wouldn't be a good term. But if I was turned down a Job that I'm clearly qualified for because I happen to be related to someone who plays football. I'm going to seek legal advise. The NCAA can't frick everyone on the world's lives over because of one football player. It's not that serious.

Or if I interviewed for a job and didn't get it......but found out they hired EVERY family member of an Ole Miss football player, ones that may have not had any experience in the position they were hired for.
Works both ways.......
Works both ways.......

Been sipping on Johnny walker. I was a little worked up and wasn't thinking.
Just get tired of hearing all the stories of these cool as neighbors and "buddies" that the posters have.

Do me a solid. Read what you just wrote out loud, and think about how juicy that shiny lure was before you swallowed so hard it shot out your a-hole.

Knemdiche's father was hired by the University and everyone knew it. I think it would be more illegal to not hire someone soley because their kid is a student athelete. Would probably fall under some sort of discriminatory thing.
For the record, government jobs have to ask many questions that privately-owned companies do not.
Public universities ask--on their employment applications--whether or not the applicant has a family member who has ever worked for the institution.
Not only is it not discriminatory; it's required by law in order to avoid discrimination against other candidates.

I believe you can hire them for whatever as long as they are qualified for the job. I mean, a booster who owns a hospital could not hire soneones mom as the head nurse of the hospital if the mother has no nursing degree, but they could give them a job as a receptionist. I do think if you can prove that they hired the mom as say a receptionist and paid her a huge amount over every other receptionist you have hired that that would bring a red flag and likely get you some punishment from the NCAA. Not really sure about that though. Didn't FedEx do something like that?

Yeah, I really don't appreciate being outed and I thought that conversation was off the record.

Everybody knows that a Bama booster gave Trent Richardson's mom a "job" "house sitting" a million dollar home in Mountain Brook while Rent was at Bama and nothing ever came of that, so who knows
But of course that's different, because Hugh Freeze isn't besties with the president of the NCAA like Saban is...

OM has paid guys since from waaay back. Whatever additional turns up may just be something random the NCAA stumbles on. There is plenty of material.

Is giving jobs to family members of players "illegal" by NCAA standards
No. Shea Patterson's brother was hired to some BS recruiting position at Ole Miss in order to secure his commitment.
LSU gave the brother a GA spot; but were too poor to bump him up to full time pay.

Seriously not trying to flame. Just asking something that was told to me earlier today. My neighbor is about as hard core OM as they come(former player, alum)& very prideful about his Rebs. He's now a Secret Service agent. We're always talking football & he stopped me while I was cutting grass & said "Sooo, we're done". He was talking with a former colleague of his in the SS that is now an NCAA investigator. He said there's something brewing that may get them an even bigger hammer with donte moncrief and some booster that gave his whole family jobs. Can't remember the boosters name. Is giving jobs to family members of players "illegal" by NCAA standards? How can u prove that's why they got the jobs? Just wondering, if true, is it THAT big of a deal?
So in the 3 years the NCAA didn't find anything like this (because it would have been in the NOA) but in the past 3 weeks they have found everything?
