Just had a source tell me #Mizzou baseball coach Tim Jamieson will retire after this season and take a job in athletic department.

Had heard that. MR can earn a few points back if true and he makes a good hire.

It's probably going to be another True Son.

Multiple tweets from Gabe and the other Mizzou coverage guys that this is just a rumor.

The guy at Arkansas is a true son but I'd have no problem with it

Might be rumors but might also turn out to be true. Just no official talks yet. I can hope at least

I hope Mizzou makes a good hire.

Why? If they did we wouldn't have anything to bitch about.

My cousin did some math on Jamieson's career and Vitello's time as an assistant at Mizzou:
Without Vitello - 408-374 (.521) 2 regionals in 14 seasons.
With Vitello - 289-191 (.602) 7 regionals in 8 seasons.
And I can absolutely confirm that Vitello wants the job.

Why hasn't Vitello been a HC anywhere?
Seems the only real knock against him.
Houston has a very good baseball program, their coach as a Rhodes connection.
SLU's coach could be another option.

The right opportunities have not presented themselves. And Arkansas pays a shitload.
Not sure why HC experience would be a prerequisite. A&M, Florida, South Carolina, Vandy, Louisville. None with prior HC experience.

I believe Houstons coach is a Houston alum. Doubt he leaves even with the Mack connection.

The Houston HC and Vitello are friends. Whitting helped Tony get the job at TCU a few years ago. If he's wanting to stay at Houston, I imagine he'd endorse Vitello.
I'm not saying Houston is a better job than Mizzou. But Whitting is a UH alum, their fan support is better at this time, and you can recruit your whole roster from within 45 minutes of campus (which may be 90 minutes in Houston traffic, but still). Mizzou is in the SEC though, which makes it a better job, even if not by much because of all the positives Houston specifically has going for it.

Mithat seemed to be the thing that many didn't like with Odom being hired. Lack of HC experience.

That's a fair statement. The Mizzou baseball support has always been subpar for as long as I've been here anyway. It also doesn't help that Missouri is home to two great MLB baseball programs. Joining the SEC actually hurt Mizzou baseball even more because now we have to compete against much tougher competition and the South has better-suited year round weather for baseball than the Midwest. You're not gonna get people to give up going to a Cardinals or Royals game to drive to Columbia and watch a crappy Mizzou baseball team get spanked by just about every SEC team they play. Our facilities are also lacking big time compared to the other SEC schools which doesn't help with recruiting. It wouldn't surprise me if we ranked last in the SEC in terms of baseball facilities.
