That would hypocrisy.

The key difference between irony and hypocrisy:

Hypocrisy employs the intentional pretense of moral/ethical superiority.

Irony is an unintentional twist of fate.


Examples on the rant:

Hypocrisy:
OP identifies a fault in LSU fans as quick to be offended, when OP himself does the same thing.

Irony:
KaiserSoze99 says "so many threads started by you're retarded arse." The improper use of you're (you are) is a mistake only a retard would make. Thus, a twist of fate. KaiserSoze99 demonstrated his retardation buy calling out another poster, with improper usage of the contraction "you're" (you are) when his retarded arse should have used the possessive form of you (your).

You know, as soon as I submitted that the first thought that popped into my head is that some a-hole is going to point out my improper use of "irony."
