Also people overrate how good of a shooter these guys need to be going into the NBA. They’ll teach him how to shoot better when he gets there.

I'm sure they will help him a lot and 2-3 years into his NBA career he will be dong quite well. My point is you don't expect to have to do that with a lottery pick.

I completely disagree. Most of those guys are drafted based on potential. That’s why you see so many underclassmen go early. Cam Reddish for example shot it horrible in college and he’s slowly getting better now. They’ll develop faster when they’re only worrying about playing basketball and not everything else that comes with going to college.

Just look at Chuma. He was just out of the lottery knowing full well he wouldn’t play this year.

You sure? Guys like who I listed below are top ~15 picks every year

Here are some quotes from tRinger's NBA Draft guide last year

Ja Morant
quote:

Athletic wonder and clever playmaker who needs to develop his jump shot and curb turnovers to unlock his true star potential

Cam Reddish
quote:

Polarizing prospect who looks the part of a future star scorer, but his production leaves much to be desired....he’s shot low 30 percent from 3 throughout his career.

Sekou Doumbouya
quote:

Unpolished physical specimen with the potential versatility at the forward spots to be a mismatch nightmare if his skills continue to develop....
-Poor defensive fundamentals
-Poor decision-maker who wears blinders
-Fumbles the ball often—and that’s on straight-line drives
-Untamed jump shot
