Did joining the SEC change recruiting? Has the addition of A&M and MIZZOU changed recruiting for your school?

I think aTm joining the SEC hurt our recruiting a little...nothing major but we probably lose 1-2 kids a year to aTm that we probably would have gotten if you were still in the Big 12

The addition of Texas A&M and Missouri has opened up those two states for Alabama. I can't remember a time when Alabama signed as many kids from either of those states.

Considering South Carolina was in the wasteland of Independents prior to joining the SEC, yes, yes it did change it.

I don't know how you could accurately measure how SC joining the SEC in '92 impacted recruiting. We got good players before, we got great players anybody wanted before, we got avg to below average players as well. There wasn't a ranking/star/rating system like they have nowadays with Rivals/247/etc.... So I don't think there can really be a definitive/quantifiable measurement of SC joining the SEC in '92.
For newer schools like aTm or Mizzou, they could look at the class rankings via Rivals/Scout over the years and see how it has changed, since those services/networks have been tracking class rankings since the early 2000's.
As far as adding Mizzou or aTm to the SEC and its impact on SC's recruiting: I think there is no impact. SC rarely recruited TX or MO. We sometimes have recruited the JUCO's in the Jayhawk Conference, but we still got the guys we wanted from there even after aTm or Mizzou joined the SEC. We have got 1 recruit we offered from MO since they joined, TE Kyle Markway, but we don't heavily recruit MO or TX. There is enough talent in the Carolinas/GA/FL/VA/AL/MS and the mid-atlantic that we typically recruit to keep us busy. Even with the coaching staff change, that's still where the coaches are spending their focus on. We'll probably still go after some midwest JUCO's and an occasional player from the midwest, but Mizzou's and aTm joining the SEC will have no impact on our recruiting in those territories.

No ... not really.
Might help us in Texas one of these days - given Boom's connections there. Mizzou, nah, not really. We got a pretty good TE outta there last year but other than that, not really. Not too much going-on in Mizzou that we're going to be able to get-in-on in front of Bama, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, etc.

I believe this has less to do with A&M to the SEC and more with the "shrinking" of the Big 12 footprint (2 less teams in a conference is significant). Nebraska, Colorado, and too a lesser extent Mizzou don't recruit TX the same.
Oklahoma, A&M, and Texas have also shifted resources to recruit nationally. Eight of A&M's projected starters next year aren't from TX.
