Chart shows which college football teams have the most success per dollar

It takes money to make football teams win games. Which college programs are the most efficient at spending and winning?

To see how much each school spent on football, I looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education. To measure on-field results, the Massey composite, an index that averages dozens of rankings including the AP Poll and computer ratings.

Sortable chart and article

Auburn is dead last in SEC

Imagine how shitty we be if we didn't spend so much money. Glad to see the administration step up.

That chart also shows Mizzou doing better than Alabama in terms of efficiency.

We do have the Petrino John L. Smith mess skewing that quite a bit for us. It would be interesting to see that over a period of time when we don't have a clusterfrick of a mess to deal with.

That whole chart is flawed. It has Oregon and OU ahead of Alabama in terms of on the field football success.

If any of these efficient teams could "overpay" and have Alabama's success they'd do it in a heartbeat.

Might want to weight that ranking a little by applying a factor for having the toughest schedule overall from the years 2012 to present. Move the piggie slightly to the left.
