When did Simmons sign with the agent?

Or Blakney talking to the NCAA Monday on the stripper gate. Has to be the reason why LSU declined the invite. There is a rule if you are invited to the NIT, you can't pull out of playing it.

Blakeney has been talking to the NCAA since the off-season when it all broke. It's how he likely retained his eligibility for this season. I don't think this had anything to do with that.
I think the two most likely scenarios is it was just a pre-emptive strike before they weren't invited to the NIT or Simmons has already gotten the frick out.
If it's that Simmons is done, then it could mean a decent APR hit for them.

doesn't UK's whole team leave every year?
I am not super familiar with APR. I wonder if we could just get a violation and shut down the program for a year or two

The rule is you're ok as long as you finish the spring semester. There's not a lot of wiggle room with guys declaring but with online courses it makes it pretty easy to do at this point. And with the Wooden eligiblity business and LSU sitting him for part of a game for "academic reasons", I think it's a reasonable assumption to make that he could not finish the semester. Daniel Orton is the only one under Cal so far that has ended up hurting the APR.

TigerMike and BayouBelle, back at it again with the LSU posts.

And the resident crier has come here to defend Simmons' honor.

My first one and done experience- I am not that big of a fan. Loses alot of the college experience for me. How do you like it?

Add it to the list. You want sunshine pumping...rah, rah bullshite for LSU, then proceed back to the Tiger Rant. Suck it up.

I enjoy getting to see players I never would've seen had the high school rule still been in place. The turnover gets a little crazy but I appreciate them as much as I did Jamal Mashburn or Rex Chapman, who both went early as well.
It's all about managing the egos. And it helps that some of the guys who have come through have been some pretty well adjusted guys for 18-19 years old.

You are reading/posting on the Tiger Rant. You know there is more negative talk about the LSU basketball program on the Tiger Rant than even the SEC Rant.

You honestly appreciate the iPhone thief as Mash as much as Daniel Ortin and his 4 points a game? LOL

You got at least 2 if not 3 years out of those guys? I get LSU football players going early but they generally get the better of an education if they want it 3 years (hell with the way they do summer school they could get a degree in that time). It is a fair response on your part. If this was successful it would probably be different for me I guess? We didn't really achieve much with Shaq, but he was there for some time and I think loves the school.

NIT wanted Simmons to play , that wasn't happening FWIW

What the frick are you babbling about?

Is it just me or would LSU have been better off without the clusterfrick of a distraction that is Simmons? It's not like they achieved great things with him, after all. Instead of the drama, they could have focused on becoming a more cohesive team and planned for being better next season.

Then Johnny Jones and LSU should be embarrassed that he let a one and done dictate what his whole team would do in a post-season. I don't give a shite if Simmons wanted to play or not. That's shitty to your upperclassmen leaving and underclassmen coming back that could use the extra tournament play.

I think so- they should be competing for those kids that need to play for a few years. Then be like the successful mid majors who have good years bc they have a bunch of 3 year starters playing.

i seriously doubt you hold Daniel Orton (1 and done) in the same high regard as king Rex (IPhone bandit - pill head) or Mash.

I was making a blanket statement, not comparing each individual player. Is your comprehension that bad? Don't be so obtuse.
