I'll say it again.

Indiana was a HARD 5 seed. Texas fell off the 5-seed line when they got destroyed by Baylor.

The committee wanted A&M/Texas and UK/IU matchups in the second round.

This was all about location and matchups.

Kentucky plays in Des Moines (668 miles), then Philadelphia (634 miles) if they advance.

Texas A&M plays in Oklahoma City (373 miles), then Anaheim (1467 miles) if they advance.

The committee was NOT going to put Kentucky in the South bracket for a virtual home game against a 1 or a 2 seed.
