We had some unlucky/upset sweet 16s too.

1976 - lost by 5 to National Champ undefeated Indiana, their closest game of the tournament

1982 - lost by 5 to National Champion North Carolina

1987 - lost to Billy Donovan and Rick Pitino's Providence

2004 E8 - lost to National Champion UConn

Another big reason UK has so many more appearances is nobody else could go to the NCAAT other than conference champs until 1975.

All 20 of Alabama's NCAAT appearances are since 1975. If Arky and Missouri had Kentucky in their league they'd have a bunch less too.
