Started using an erg last week as just keeping an active lifestyle doesn't seem to be cutting anymore. This thing is evil.

I'm thrilled that I can report in this thread that I've lost 55 pounds since April. I just got tired of being a fatass. 25 more and I'm golden.

Great job, how old are you and what did you change?

Staying under 1500 calories a day and working my way up to 60 minutes on the elliptical at least 2 days a week but as many as 4.
I track everything using the My Fitness Pal app, weigh myself every day.
Lapsed the last couple of weeks with a vacation/lots of beer drinking but managed to get back on the wagon and work off those 7 pounds this week.
Haven't felt this good in many years.

Counting calories is a really awful dogma.
Elliptical is also a near total waste of time depending on your goals.

People lose weight on low carb diets.
Weight isn't the indicator of health that people think.
There are others.
The low carb diet yields results, but overall is bad in many ways plus it's a great way to set yourself up to rebound back up in weight any time you reintroduce carbs.

Good for you.
My weight loss has also been supervised by my physician.
Are you just a know-it-all a-hole?

That's great.
It's pretty well known that physicians aren't going to always give us the best info, especially when it comes to natural health.
There are different diets for different people.
There isn't one way. You'll here good arguments for higher calorie (but clean) diets, and you'll here good arguments for high fat diets.
But there isn't a good argument for a high protein, low carb diet -- other than quick weight loss, which harms the overall health of the body and often leaves a person susceptible to quick weight gain whenever carbs are introduced.
