I think Auburn is on more of a decline than anyone in the SEC.

Auburn doesn't count. Auburn doesn't decline or improve as a program (with the exception of the '80s).

Auburn is a perpetual roller coaster. They're as likely to win the SEC in any given year as they are to having a losing season. And its usually when you think they are going to be bad/good when they do just the opposite.

Auburn never stays "down" for more than 2 years in a row, and again, with the exception of 1983-1989, they never stay great for more than about 2 years in a row.

So while Auburn might be "down" next year for the second year in a row, its unlikely (based on history) to be a long-term trend.

Ain't that the truth. It's difficult being an AU fan. It is without question tiring, and it tests your resolve quite a lot.
