Why I hate the "don't offer a QB this class, it might drive the elite guy away next year" mantra. Or any other position for that matter. You have to look out for the team, not for a single player who isn't even on your roster yet.

A&M needs QBs, they aren't gonna magically gather to College Station. They have Tate for 2017, but that's not nearly enough considering they have only 2 on scholarship.

They went and offered a guy who fits perfectly in their system from a school who has fed to a place like Oregon. That would be the bigger issue, offering a guy who might be an Oregon lock.

Oregon has their commit for 2017. Tua most likely ends up at SC, would be my guess.
