Fair enough. I am pretty sure that is why Bama is the greatest football program in college football. Unmatched dedication.

I am not foreign to the concept as that is what the Saints are to me and my family still in New Orleans. Or why A&M joining the SEC will always be huge to me personally- it allowed me to bond with my 89 year old Ole Miss fan grandad more. So I can understand that family connection.

I guess what I don't personally understand is-why can't someone be a MSU fan and a Bama fan? They only play once a year and the rest of the time there is not internal conflict. Is fandom monogamy so important to people like your family that Bama can't be a strong #2 or even tied for #1? Why can't people have the personal ability to be a fan of more than one team?

You don't have to answer that BTW, just thinking out loud. You have already offered an excellent discussion and I appreciate that. Better than I deserved.

I don't know. My brother spent time at A&M, residency. Went to games and wore the shirts and did the cheers. Loved it. A&M fan, I guess.

But not really an A&M fan. I mean he was just having fun where he was. It never crossed anyone's mind that he would like them more than Bama. He will always be a Bama fan and his kids are too.

Why is it that way? Why does it run deeper? Idk, maybe because we don't have pro teams, because Bear was a God-like figure in this state, because this is a state not know for much positive that gets run down by the rest of country but this is the one big thing we do better than anyone else, our claim to fame. Maybe it's Bama arrogance and we view all other programs as "lower division".

I don't know exactly. It is what it is.

I believe you are 100% correct in this why we're the GOAT. Bear said this state doesn't breathe until football season begins. We just love it more, it's just bigger. Nothing can overtake it.
