Ole Miss has come quite a ways.

I am starting to think that Ole Miss might be cheating.

Since this list was posted by an Ole Miss fan and it has LSU first (as of now) I feel I can ask this without being branded 'jealous' or other niceties.
Since there are umpteen thousand boys playing HS football, is there really THAT big of a difference in a class ranked #1 vs one that's ranked #10? Who knows if the #1 WR in Florida is better than the #1 WR in California for instance?

Recruiting rankings are for entertainment. They are a decent gage of how well a team has recruited, but it is impossible to properly evaluate thousands of high school kids.
Hell NFL scouts struggle to evaluate the 250 to 300 NFL prospects every year.

Are you surprised by this?

There's a decent correlation between pre- and post-college rating, though. I.e., higher stars are more likely to be drafted higher.
Its not perfect, obviously. Some kids are diamonds in the rough. Others bloom early and never pan out at the next level. But on average the system is pretty good.

Bama has won 4 of the last 7 NC and has had like 4 or 5 consecutive #1 recruiting "championships". Suggest, recruiting at a level that high produces success.
