Btw, I don't know high school football in Arkansas anymore, but still feel pretty confident that Little Rock has the greatest collection of talent in the state, so don't let the naysayers fool you.
Not even close any longer.
Other parts of the state are producing many more top prospects now. It isn't 1998 any longer.

McClellan played for the state championship.
That is a bit of an anomaly though.
McClellan is one of the worst programs in the state. 2015 was the first time the McClellan program had won more than 3 games in a season since 2004. They had a combined 12 wins over the previous 10 years.

And everyone knows about Pulaski Academy. They're a private school powerhouse. It is a white flight school, basically. They've won 172 games in the last 15 years and 5 state titles.
The used to be perennial powers of Central Arkansas are no longer. Little Rock Central is down and has been for a while. Parkview, McClellan, Catholic, and Hall have all turned in to has been programs.

Last room posts are on point. The LR schools produce a TERRIBLE product, typically. McClellan is usually at the bottom of that list.
If that school district/city ever gets its dysfunction in order, the UA program would benefit greatly. There are good athletes there that aren't being developed at all.

Are you talking about PA, or most of NWA? You are pretty much describing both...
The biggest part of the 'talent' in Arkansas is from LR south. The problem is culture. Outstanding athletes don't automatically go out for football anymore, if they go out for anything. Most of the best athletes are playing basketball. A large number are just walking the halls, not out for anything.
As far as Little Rock, the courts screwed up the programs there. You can't have a stable 'program' when you don't have known feeder programs and work with kids that spend developmental years in 7th grade up knowing what high school they will be attending and working into your system. The athletes are there. The system is not.
There could easily be 6 to 8 SEC level recruits out of LR, NLR and Pine Bluff every year, if not more.

I'd actually go a step farther and say the D1 football players mostly come from Pine Bluff on south, and NWA.
The rural areas down south have been on a pretty good production run lately.
North Little Rock has produced some kids as of late, but have any of them panned out? The private schools in central Arkansas have produced Michael Dyer, Hunter Henry, and Joe Adams, but not much else of note.
10-20 years ago it was good to have a in at Little Rock schools, but now, it's just a waste of time because there is nothing there.
It's sad

Never heard of him. But I don't follow high school ball like I used to. Will have to check out any game tape online of him. Wish him well...except one week out of the year.

There are more than a few Razorback fans that wanted this guy BADLY.
He will be a good one for Mizzou.
He will be a good one for Mizzou.

Any way, I'm seriously not trying be mean, but we really weren't impressed. He may be SEC material, but he'd definitely be a project. I can't recall him breaking away often from a pretty bad defense, he wasn't particularly shifty or strong, and ran upright as well. How Rivals has him at a 4-star is staggering to me. We needed a running back BAD this year, and we still didn't offer him. That being said, with him being form Little Rock, I hope he does great except against us.
Watched his highlights. Didn't seem particularly fast or shifty. Really good HS RB. Nothing stood out. Now go watch Kenneth Dixon. I used him as an example because of similar styles to me and size I believe. No comparison.
ETA-but I saw Dixon in person. Makes a huge difference seeing them IRL versus highlight films. Dixon was phenomenal. No way we shoulda let him go.

NWA has ruled high school football in the state since 1988, but my point had nothing to do with "prospects" and I don't think I need to explain why Little Rock has more talent.
Just taking this year into account, you have Hammonds from LR and the other 3 Arkansas commits are scattered around the Southern part of the state, which has always produced better talent then we admit. Tobia Enlow is a walk-on receiver from NLR and we had the walk-on LB from Benton commit today. Taking all of them into account with the 2 LR players Mizzou just flipped, where else in Arkansas produced that much talent?

Lots of past champions would argue against that.
Oh, and there are more classifications than 7A.
I think Pine Bluff has won what, 3 6A championships in a row?

What? Not even close man.
Pine Bluff has won titles in 1990, 93, 94, 95, 2014, & 2015
El Dorado has won titles in 2009, 10, 11, & 13
Texarkana has won titles in 2006 & 2007
Then you have Little Rock Central who leads the state with 31 state championships.
We also aren't counting all of the state titles that have been won in Rison, Warren, Nashville, Junction City, or the run Barton went on in the 1990's.
The NWA schools have become more successful with the decreased number of schools they can play against. Since the inception of 7A football, where all they have to do is beat each other, then play a down trodden Little Rock school district school, or play one of their conference foes for a state title.

And considering that there are 10 NWA schools in 7A (if you count Ft. Smith) vs. 6 in Central AR, the odds are a little in favor of a NWA team being the champion.

This was my point. NWA schools may rule high school football in Arkansas, but the best talent is still in Little Rock and Central Arkansas.
I'm sure you guys are right about which schools have had the most success, because like I said, I don't know high school football in the state much. When I was a kid, the LR schools and Pine Bluff dominated the state entirely, but I remember when that began changing in the 80's (wasn't it Barry Lunney Sr. at Fort Smith?) I haven't kept up since the early 80's, though.
My only point was that the best collection of talent in the state is still in LR and Central Arkansas, but there's still lot's of good talent elsewhere, too.

5 of 8 schools in the 7A West have won a state title since the last one that was one by a 7A Central team in 2004.
Of course, if you want to narrow it down even further, Fayetteville and Bentonville have won 8 out of the last 9 state titles.
