The real reason why Mark Richt was fired (and how)

I have a strong suspicion that Greg McGarity never liked Richt and would have fired him earlier but thanks to back to back trips to the SECCG, it bought him three more seasons.

So here's how it went down...

McGarity decided that this season was Richt's final season at Georgia if Georgia didn't at least win the SEC and go to the CFB playoff before this season. But he didn't want to look bad for it, like fire him with the offense looking good and with a serviceable QB running the show.

So what did McGarity do? He decided to play Richt and Ramsey to a lesser extent. The decisions to hire Schottenheimer and let Lambert be a graduate transfer to Georgia were not Richt's decisions at all. McGarity wanted to sabotage Georgia's offense as an ultimate ploy to make Richt look worse than he is. And it worked. Outside of the SC game, which was a big fluke, this was the worst Georgia looked on offense since 2009.

The decision to fire Richt happened after the Florida game. Florida got him fired.

But he couldn't make Richt play Lambert...

So if Lambert was Richt's best option, then it was more his own fricking fault.

Yes he could.

He INSISTED that Lambert be the starter, when he was not the right option at all. Ramsey was a risk, but a high upside risk in which if he panned out, it may have made Georgia have much more of a chance at competing for something in 2016.

McGarity's ploy set Georgia back at least one season.

He was very delusional in that he thought Georgia had championship upside this season when they didn't, and its the main cause for this mess.

I have a theory that not winning the SEC title for 10 years is the reason.

I'm going to affectionately refer to 2006-2015 as "The Lost Decade"

has a nice ring to it.

Georgia wanted Kirby Smart and Kirby Smart wanted GA......but SC was ready to hire him and GA had no opening for a head coach.

Richt fired.......opening up job.....Kirby hired.

McGarity = Georgia AD
The term "Georgia AD" has 9 letters
Georgia lost 3 games this year
9 x 3 = 27
Nick Chubb's number is 27
(implying that Chubb's injury was also part of the scheme to oust Richt)
But it gets better...
The word Chubby describes fat people
Bert is fat
Bert converted 4th and 25
4 x 25 = 100
Reggie Davis (#81) had a costly drop in the UT game and a muffed punt that gave UF a TD.
100 and 81 are perfect squares
9 is also a perfect square
The square root of 9 is 3
The illuminati has 3 sides...

MCGARITY = ILLUMINATI CONFIRMED

Why is it ridiculous to say that McGarity never liked Richt?

2011 had an ultimatum of beat Florida or you are fired.

Last season rumors came out that McGarity wanted to fire Richt for Mullen.

Everything points to McGarity not liking Richt.

Who's decision was it is start Bauta in that game as QB? Seems more like Richt wanted to get fired when he made that decision.

This and I'm sure some of our boosters made McGarity well aware of that fact.

My only qualms with how it was handled was not waiting until after the playoffs to fire Richt. Miami would have waiting for Richt to become available; Richt didn't coach Miami in their bowl game anyway. Our recruiting class would have remained in tact. And we would have retained our coaching staff for the bowl game. As is, it is a mess. McGarity should have simply told Smart: hey, we want you but we understand you will committed to Alabama through the playoffs so the effective hiring date will be after the playoffs.

Richt

But I also have a feeling that game was purposely thrown. Dropped TD passes and an idiotic special teams play.

The team knew they would be mudholed by Alabama in a rematch, so they did not want to try to get one...

^^^^This. UGA panicked when the stories about USC going hard after Smart came out.

For real? Also the space between Georgia and AD counts as a character.

I think.

Nope. Richt is at fault for his mess and now smart is gonna clean it up.
