The point is its easier to get it done at UF than SCar

Why?

Obviously that's not necessarily the case.

Spurrier (while at SCAR) beat Meyer (while at UF) just like he did Muschamp (while at UF).

It's all about frame of mind.

Florida, the state of, has more talent to choose from ... but they can still only sign so-many at a time.

Florida has the conference and national championships to tout ... but those are relatively modern.

It wasn't all that long ago that Florida was right where SCAR is right now.

Florida does not have vastly superior facilities ... matter of fact, in terms of most head-to-head facilities comparisons SCAR probably wins.

Gamecock fans are not nearly as spoiled. Spurrier raised expectations, but we are far more appreciative of hard work, solid fundamentals and solid student-athletes IMHO. That's not a knock on Florida, it's just how we see things differently.

We're not trying to overtake Florida in the pecking order. We're trying to be competitive on a yearly basis, recruit well, coach'em-up, play hard, stay out of trouble, go to class ... and everything else will take care of itself over time.

I would even argue it is not easier to win at Florida or Bama or LSU or whomever. All those programs have huge targets on their backs because of recent successes. Everyone wants to knock them off.

I know for a fact it is not easier to win at SCAR in baseball. We can never blink, as evidenced by last season. Everyone wants to beat us badly ... and it's the same way for LSU baseball.

It's not easier to win at Kentucky, in basketball, same reasons.

Is it easier to recruit? I dunno if that's even the case anymore in any sport. Well, it is to a degree but you still gotta coach'em-up.

Vandy was not a powerhouse in baseball until Corbin got there.

Kentucky was down until Calipari got there.

Meyer faded fast at UF once he lost Tebow.

LSU went through some down-times on the baseball diamond after Skip.

MY point is ... that if you recruit good talent and coach'em-up you can win anywhere. And win big.

Did mUSChamp learn any lessons that he'll correct while at UF? That's the question, and that's the point. All of this is relatively uncharted territory in this league.

Remember, everyone said Spurrier could never last at SCAR, would never win ... and he proved otherwise, on both counts.

SCAR is a different animal than anywhere else in the country.
