Will he move to 3rd like Chipper did or is he going to stay at SS? I don't know much about the kid outside of watching the CWS and knowing he's from Mayretta.

I would say stay at SS. One of the main reasons Chipper moved to third was because of his knee he had just blew out.

I think it's likely that he moves to 2B once Ozhaino Albies is ready for the bigs. Rio Ruiz and Austin Riley will compete for 3B in the future.

He's a better defender than Albies. Albies will move to 2B before Dansby. I like Ruiz. I seen him play a few times last year. Has good pop in the bat but his defense was poor.

I agree with you about Albies. Dansby has a really strong arm so he would be better for SS or 3rd. Albies gets a knock on his throwing sometimes so I can see him being a better fit for 2B.

Got a funny story about Ruiz. He missed a ball last year off his glove and it popped over the fence and got me in the knee. fricker should have had it and I didn't think it would make it over the fence so I didn't even move and bam. I ended up catching one in the same game.

sorry to laugh at your beaning but I'm picturing that happening to someone. I have only been to the majors games but at least 3-4/yr since it was Fulton County Stadium and have never once caught a foul ball so I'm envious of that
Wonder hown long it will take for Dansby to get called up? I'm sure he will be down there at SP..

He'll stay at SS I'd imagine. He's got a great glove
I actually got to play with/against him a few times when I was younger. He's easily the most natural fielder I've seen. If he can cut it at the plate, he's gonna be a good one.

I live near Pensacola so I catch games when the AA Braves come to town.
Dansby I'm hoping makes it this year but I imagine 2017 at the earliest. I hope they stick him in AA so I can watch him live. I remember watching Simmons and a few others in AA and it's fun to catch them before they make the show.

Yeah I think he will start in AA as he hit .289 in A already so AA seems like a good place to start barring some crazy good SP. Just saw his dad's name is Cooter

I see him staying up the middle either as SS or 2B because he doesn't have the power bat you want out of a corner infielder. I would say SS is more likely than 2B as well.

Albies is a slightly less polished defender than Swanson at the moment but his arm grades out better.
Scouting grades:
Albies arm = 60
Swanson arm = 55

For me, the biggest question mark was Albies' arm, but he displayed an arm that is presently around average, or maybe a tick below, for the position, with the potential to maybe bump the grade up a bit as he gains strength. I'm not sure that he'll ultimately stick as a shortstop, as he may be better suited for the other side of the bag, but it wouldn't surprise me if he were able to do it.

If you enter Dansby Swanson on youtube and watch some of his highlights from Vandy he has range and a strong arm so I'm not sure where that scout arm info came from. I'm not saying it's incorrect as it's all speculation anyways. I think they could be a good SS/2B tandem either way.

Highest grade possible is 80
Swanson:
Scouting grades: Hit: 60 | Power: 45 | Run: 60 | Arm: 55 | Field: 55 | Overall: 60
Swanson's Vanderbilt career started slowly, but he was the Most Outstanding Player in the 2014 College World Series, then helped the Commodores get back to the championship series again in 2015 en route to becoming the No. 1 pick in the Draft. He signed right at the deadline for the highest bonus in the class, $6.5 million, still well below the assigned pick value. His debut was delayed after getting hit by a Yoan Lopez pitch during a simulated game, though he did return to get in 22 Northwest League games. He was the top prospect sent to the Braves in the huge Shelby Miller deal at the 2015 Winter Meetings.
The top college position player in the Draft class, Swanson moved from second base to shortstop for his junior season and showed everyone he can stay there. Most scouts believe he has the quickness and arm strength to stay at the position long-term, even though he hadn't played there since he was a Georgia high schooler in 2012, when the Rockies drafted him in the 38th round.
Swanson is a technically sound hitter who fits at the top of his lineup with his on-base ability and speed. He showed as a junior that there might be Major League average power in his bat as well. His makeup is off the charts and universally praised by coaches and scouts.
Albies:
Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 20 | Run: 70 | Arm: 60 | Field: 50 | Overall: 55
As Jose Peraza was breaking out in 2014 in the upper levels of the Braves' system, Albies was doing the same in the lower levels. Making his professional debut, the 17-year-old excelled, first in the Gulf Coast League and then the Appalachian League, where he was the third-youngest position player. He was having an impressive sophomore campaign, too, before he fractured his right thumb in August, prematurely ending his 2015 season.
Albies makes a lot of contact, thanks to his quick swing, excellent hand-eye coordination and innate feel for the barrel. He has a line-drive stroke and, while power will never be a part of his game, drives the gaps well. His above-average speed gives him all the tools to fit at the top of the order.
Albies has a strong arm, and scouts believe he has the skills necessary to remain at shortstop. The island of Curacao has produced several talented middle infielders in recent years, and Albies has a strong chance to continue the line.

Seems like we could link up scouts thoughts all night haha. I think the Braves have some great depth but we are going to have to be patient and let them work their way up to the majors.
